Loop Transportation Center is a 27-story commercial tower distinguished by its strong horizontal expression of concrete spandrels and expansive glass panel framing. The building’s facade creates a clean, modern rhythm, with continuous bands of glazing reflecting the surrounding skyline and reinforcing its presence within the urban core. The first two floors of the building are retail, lobby and transportation facility and there is a parking garage with concrete floor slabs and columns from the 3rd through 12th floors. FE&D was retained to develop a comprehensive scope of repairs and oversee the exterior restoration and repair program for the structure. Over a two-year span, FE&D oversaw the exterior repairs as they were being installed to ensure quality workmanship, proper installation, and adherence to project objectives. The successfully completed restoration enhances the building’s structural integrity, weather resistance, and overall aesthetic presence within the Loop.
